Festival of Japan

Festival of Japan

Although it is typically the powder snow that sets Niseko apart from other international ski resorts, the attraction of Japan’s culture is unquestionably part of the allure that brings so many visitors to Niseko.

This season sees the launch of the inaugural Festival of Japan; a celebration of Japanese culture through the arts and crafts of Japan’s history. The ten day festival brings together artists and musicians from throughout Japan, masters of their crafts, so you don’t have to visit Kyoto to get a taste of what is truly so special about Japan.

This local community initiative is set to broaden the Niseko experience with both major performance events and smaller interactive workshops being held in Hanazono, Hirafu, Niseko Village and Annupuri.

Some of the events on include a world champion martial arts display of his own internationally recognized form of Karate; an exploration of Ainu culture through food, dance and music; a once-in-a-lifetime chance to dine with professional sumo wrestlers in an exclusive banquet; a professional father and son music duo performing traditional Japanese compositions and many other interactive and performance events for all ages and interests. You can view the full schedule online here, as well as ticketing release dates, locations and more!
