Niseko Grand Hirafu Ski Resort

Hirafu is the best known and most popular mountain with Niseko United and is often the mountain that people assume you mean when you say you are in Niseko.

Hirafu is the most developed of the four mountains having been “discovered” by the Australian skiing community in the mid naughties.

The majority of Hirafu’s runs give stunning views of Mt.Yotei from top to bottom and a wide variety of terrain from the ski school dominated ACE pair and gentle rollers accessed by King Pair to the powder filled runs earnt by a hike to the peak or from the gondola into the trees around Miharashi. Or you can pause to catch your breath and watch the action in the terrain park (or take a photo of Yotei). The downside of this popularity is Hirafu is also the most crowded of Niseko’s 4 resorts

Hirafu is the nightlife center for the Niseko area with crowd favorites like Gyu Bar (aka Fridge Bar) to the live music (and shots) of Wild Bills. There are restaurants to suit most tastes with the ever popular Abucha 2, Bang Bang and Ezo seafood booked out months in advance while Kammimura, The Barn and An Dining would be highly rated in any of the world’s food capitals.

Seicomart is at the heart of Hirafu (with many other establishments location referenced to Seicomarts location) and it provides convenience store basics while the Niseko Supermarket and Deli can provide a wider range of holiday needs.

There are accommodation options to suit any group size and budget with most the places in Upper Hirafu ski in/ski out (or a very short walk) while the lower village has the bus service to whisk you up to the gondola or Ace quad.

Like the rest of the region Hirafu has several onsen options including several hotels/buildings with their own while there are public ones in lower village (Yukoro) and at the Alpen hotel (which also has a swimming pool if the onsen isn’t your thing).

Over recent years the off mountain activities have continued to develop with Hirafu Zaki now lined with retail outlets including Rhythmn sports and Hirafu 188 building (packed with retail outlets), while NAC provides an indoor climbing wall.

That’s a Wrap for the 2016-17 Season

At just under 6 months the season has finally come to a close here in Niseko. Almost on cue this morning we had a down pour of rain washing hastening the melt of the remaining snow…reminded us of the famous “Tears in Rain” Monologue from Blade Runner.
