How much snow fell on Niseko in 2012 & 2013?

The snow has returned to Niseko. According to Kutchan town the first snow fall on Mt. Yotei was on the 4th of October. 360niseko mistakenly reported the first snow fall on 26th of September however this was frost. Since then Mt. Yotei has had a couple light dustings…that has all changed today.

  1. Hi there! We’re hoping to come to Niseko (snowboarding) from 3rd-6th December but know that this is very early season. We’ve been holding off booking accommodation, following your facebook page and getting excited whenever you post! Do you think this is a good sign for early snow or is it still way too early to know how it will be in early december?

    • Hi Julia,

Thanks for that. Early season is always a great time of the year for locals with great snow and lots of terrain to ride. Back country can be quite limited as the snow pack has not filled in off course. Take a look at out blog archives from December 2012 http://360niseko.com/2012/12/page/8/ There are no guarantees just the luck of the draw when booking a ski / snowboard holiday. Please remember Niseko is one of the snowiest resorts in the world 😉

    • Thanks very much Saskia we can’t wait for the first snowfall!! Thanks for following the blog.

  2. I was there on the 27th of January for that 54cm day. As the biggest dump of the 2012/2013 season how does that compare with big dumps in previous seasons?

    • Hi Leigh, oh yeah the 27th of Jan 2013…that was a…snorkel day. In the 2 years we have been measuring snowfall that was the biggest but i am sure in previous years there has been much bigger falls. Thanks for following and hope you have a trip planned for this year!
