Niseko Snow Report, 25 December 2017

Don't panic it's coming!

* 0 cm has fallen in the last 24 hours in Niseko. At 6:30 am today the temperature was  4.1 °C… yes that’s not  spelling mistake!

Merry Christmas from 360 to all our viewers!

Santa must have been watching this year and all our parking the wrong way round at Max Value, talking too loud in the onsen, putting chopsticks in our rice bowl and the many other gaffes have been suitably punished and the storm forecast to hit last night has failed to show and as we type light rain is falling. Looking at the live cams the same seems to be the case on Honshu as well. In a mad panic this morning dreading a horror Xmas melt we did the rounds of the weather charts and it looks like the storm is still set to show and temps should start to head down across the morning and snow should be falling by lunchtime or late afternoon.

The snow pack is consolidated a bunch and it’s all about the groomers today so grab the family and get out there ho ho ho.

Keep an eye on the live cam of Hirafu Zaka and you may even see this tardy as it shows up.

360niseko Snow Station Readings Disclaimer

The 360niseko now has 2 snow stations for the 2017-18 season in Higashiyama at 200m and 300m *The Hirafu Gondola is at 305m. Please be aware that this new reading is NOT in Hirafu village but a few kilometers down the road. There is always a deviation how and where the snow falls – the area is famous for micro climates and mini weather patterns. Some days there may be 10cm in Annupuri and 25cm in Hanazono and vice versa – some days 30cm of fresh snowfall comes down everywhere!! Altitude plays a big part as well so please don’t take the 360niseko snow readings as being definitive – the readings are what is outside our houses on the ground.
