Early this morning I went to climb Mt. Chisenupuri from the car park that’s located 830m up the mountain, as I drove up the Route 66 mountain pass there was a few centimetres of snow on the road. When I arrived at the car park I was greeted by two guys from the Hokkaido Development Bureau who advised they were closing the road at 8am and I should not start my climb!
The road is closed today but may re-open. But it will be closed for the whole winter from 29 October 2011 until 28th April 2012, but this does mean that the snow is on it’s way and people will soon be hiking up the road to ride back down the mountain on their ski’s and snowboards, game on!
