After the first snowfall came in Hirafu village on the 8th the next morning was amazing. No wind, no clouds and a beautiful layer of fresh snow coating everything.
With a solid layer of 10-15cm at the base of the mountain chances were good for some very ride-able snow higher up on the mountain.
With a quick call to Sam from Niseko Xtreme Tours we were soon hiking up the mountain with everyone’s favorite dog in town, Woodley.
Will let the photos and the video do most of the talking.
Our goal was Ace Hill at the top of center 4 and after hiking for an hour we made it. The snow up there was around 30-40cm with deeper wind blown sections. Game on.
Incredible to think that we went from basically no snow to 40cm of light fluffy powder in 24 hours.
Lower down the snow was heavier but still lots of fun.
Made it down to the base with only one small scratch on the board. An epic start to the season….and the season hasn’t even started yet!
Lifts start running on November 23.
