Autumn in Niseko can be difficult. Temperatures drop and the inevitable stormy weather rolls in. Over the last few days there has been heavy rainfall, strong winds and persistent low cloud. This morning snowfall was evident above 1000m on Mt. Niseko Annupuri between Grand Hirafu and Niseko Village ski grounds.

Getting a shot of the new snowfall in these conditions requires patience. Although the weather is not great right now, nature still presents moments of magic at the most unexpected times….

In the above autumnal shot everything came together. On the left side Haru no taki – Spring Waterfall visibly flowing after the heavy rains, the fresh snowline, Hirafu’s Super Ridge and a rainbow complementing the scene.
