Today Grand Hirafu opened for the 2017-18 season!! After the deluge of snow over the last week there gave us plenty of snow coverage especially higher up on the mountain but over all opening day has not quite lived up to the hype. Ridable terrain is limited to the Center course off the Ace Pair Lift #3. Downloading is in effect until more snow arrives with the Ace Quad Lift #2 Center 4 provide access too and from the action higher up on the mountain. Today’s weather is pretty bad with rain and a thick fog. Snow is on the forecast this afternoon so fingers crossed for improved conditions before too long.
The annual opening ceremony was quickly convened indoors at the Alpen Hotel. Here are some shots of proceedings.
