The march towards winter continues with cold temperatures and a top temperature of only 14 degrees in Hirafu today. A bright spot in an otherwise slightly gloomy stroll around Hirafu Village this afternoon was coming across YUKI MUSHI / Snow Insects.
These little creatures have a brief life cycle and are only around for a few days a year in Autumn. It is said that once YUKI MUSHI appear snowfall is only a few days away! It seems that they are out a little earlier than past years.
The Kutchannel is again running it’s annual First Snow Contest. To enter just register and then guess the date and time for the first snowfall will hit Hirafu at village level, this will put you in the running to win dinner for 6 at the awesome Bistrot le Couchon. Worth a crack!
