*7.5cm of fresh snow as fallen in the last 24hrs in Hirafu Village. At 07:40 today the temperature was 0°C.
Great to see some new snowfall overnight! It is presently overcast with moderate winds in the village. The weather is expected to deteriorate through the day with wind strength increasing and heavy snowfall. There seems to be every kind of weather warning issued this morning…avalanche, heavy snowfall and even lightening. Caution is obviously advised on he mountain today. There probably hasn’t been enough snow to reset the snow pack. What may look like a nice section of snow may actually be variable snow with an ice layer beneath. Take care and and ride wisely….lots of snow is on the way so save your power turns for the right conditions.
