Niseko Snow Report, 6 March 2018

by | Mar 6, 2018 | Snow Reports | 0 comments

*2cm has fallen in the last 24 hours in Niseko. At 07:15 today the temperature was -5°C. ‘Normality’ has returned with cold temperatures and snowfall in Niseko. We presently have light snowfall and patches of sunshine breaking through. The next couple of days are looking pretty decent with continued snowfall and cold temperatures forecast before temps increase from Thursday and the rollercoaster of spring temperature fluctuations rolls on! Conditions on the mountain will be fun this morning with this excellent layer on light gradually snow. It is highly unlikely the side country has had enough snowfall to hit at speed so please be very careful when venturing off the groomed runs. At this time of year elevation makes a massive difference in snowfall accumulation and 2cm on the 360niseko snow station can equate to much more at higher elevations. Have fun but be on your guard against “dust on crust”!

360niseko Snow Station Readings Disclaimer

The 360niseko’s snow station for the 2017-18 season is in Higashiyama at 200m *The Hirafu Gondola is at 305m. Please be aware that this new reading is NOT in Hirafu village but a few kilometers down the road. There is always a deviation how and where the snow falls – the area is famous for micro climates and mini weather patterns. Some days there may be 10cm in Annupuri and 25cm in Hanazono and vice versa – some days 30cm of fresh snowfall comes down everywhere!! Altitude plays a big part as well so please don’t take the 360niseko snow readings as being definitive – the readings are what is outside our house on the ground.
