Plenty of people in Niseko have no problems letting a giant mechanical pulley do battle with gravity and cart their rotund posterior up mountains. But, those who know, know that to get the best snow, a little effort and perspiration is required. Rewards are directly proportional to effort. Powdershots Niseko shared some inspirational images from the morning.

It was yet another picture perfect postcard day in Niseko this morning, with a small top up of fresh snow, followed by vivid blue skies, sunshine and an almost surreal stillness in the air. In short, a back country day.

While it seemed that every other person in Niseko made the short trek up to the summit from King #4 this morning, looking further afield there was evidence of the truly keen earning their turns on Iwaonupuri. There is nothing that compares to the blissful solitude and sense of satisfaction of attacking a mountain on foot, and then leaving your mark down for the world to see and admire. If you’ve never had that experience, add it to your bucket list.

Or better yet, find a guide in town who will make that happen for you – a list of guides can be found here 360niseko.com/locations/guides
