* 3.0 cm has fallen in the last 24 hours. At 5:48 am today the temperature was -2.9
There has been minimal snowfall overnight at 300Meters and temps have bobbed up and down like a fishing boat on the sea of Okhotsk. This morning it’s warmer than a lot of the last 30 days but running right to forecast and there is even a chance that the sun will show-up later in the day but right now (5.40am) there is snow falling at a reasonable rate and things look fun outside for a skier or snowboarder. The snow pack is consolidating at the moment as it does between dumps and if you look at the readings from Niseko United you can watch the depth move up and down (espically at the top) as the various cycles of snowfall and weather move through.
It’s the spaces in between the dumps that really define a Niseko winter and how you react to those spaces will define your visit or your season depending on what you are here for today is a fantastic day to hit it early nail a few perfect clean groomer runs then head out to check an onsen or maybe the shopping in Hirafu or the stores at Niseko Village, it’s also the perfect time to head for the back-country with someone like Pow Com. There is light snow and bursts of sun forecast for the rest of the week so it’s a perfect time to get to know the mountain, nail a few hidden stashes and enjoy Japanuary.

360niseko Snow Station Readings Disclaimer
The 360niseko now has 2 snow stations for the 2017-18 season in Higashiyama at 200m and 300m *The Hirafu Gondola is at 305m. Please be aware that this new reading is NOT in Hirafu village but a few kilometers down the road. There is always a deviation how and where the snow falls – the area is famous for micro climates and mini weather patterns. Some days there may be 10cm in Annupuri and 25cm in Hanazono and vice versa – some days 30cm of fresh snowfall comes down everywhere!! Altitude plays a big part as well so please don’t take the 360niseko snow readings as being definitive – the readings are what is outside our houses on the ground.
