A New Found Passion
Classical music has always been something I enjoyed, but normally inside the car when driving through the English country side.
When the team from the Hilton Niseko Village asked me if I would like to come along to the opening evening of Richard Tognetti and members of the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s performance I jumped at the chance as I had never listened to a live classical performance before!
Their performance started with “Winter” from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, and what an appropriate piece it was… I was blown away by the skill of the musicians and puzzled over what sound was coming from where. The acoustics inside the Hilton banquette hall gave my ears a completely new experience of listening to classical music.
Later the acclaimed Japanese guitarist Yasuji Ohagi played some exquisite classical guitar and then joined Richard and the orchestra members for a collaborative piece.
After two hours of delightful music plus the in appropriate but none the less excellent rendition of “Summer” by Vivaldi I was left thinking that I need to see a performance like this again.
The Orchestra will be playing tonight at Hanazono 308 and Saturday 14 January 2012 at the new Mountain Center next to the Hirafu Gondola. The shows kicks off at 7pm so you have plenty of time for riding before hand.
