Niseko Snow Report 3 December 2017

by | Dec 3, 2017 | News, Snow Reports | 0 comments

*14cm has fallen in the last 24 hours in Niseko. At 6:30am today the temperature was -3.5°C.

Today kind of feels like Niseko is stuck in some sort of weird loop and it’s almost a carbon copy of yesterday as far as snowfall goes and the only real difference is the temp, which is spiking upward as per the forecast. Yesterday was great fun today is going to be the same. I suspect that there is a fair bit more snow (maybe up to 15cm’s) than is showing on our station at 300m as it may have been slightly protected from the wind yesterday but we report what we see and there it is. Moiwa Resort also opened yesterday so we are going to head over there for Sunday fun day and the mighty pair lift (it’s not actually that mighty and is pretty mellow but it’s hog heaven for kids) and hopefully bring you some more images later in the day.

As a side note please bear in mind that the snow level we report from Hirafu is information that runs around 24 hours behind our own so depth vary to reporting.

Above: 14cm of the good stuff this morning.

360niseko Snow Station Readings Disclaimer

The 360niseko now has 2 snow stations for the 2017-18 in Higashiyama at 200m and 300m *The Hirafu Gondola is at 305m. Please be aware that this new reading is NOT in Hirafu village but a few kilometers down the road. There is always a deviation how and where the snow falls – the area is famous for micro climates and mini weather patterns. Some days there may be 10cm in Annupuri and 25cm in Hanazono and vice versa – some days 30cm of fresh snowfall comes down everywhere!! Altitude plays a big part as well so please don’t take the 360niseko snow readings as being definitive – the readings are what is outside our houses on the ground.
