Niseko Snow Report, 10 January 2018.

by | Jan 10, 2018 | Snow Reports | 0 comments

* 4.5 cm has fallen in the last 24 hours. At 6:06 am today the temperature was -6.0c.

It looks as though our mega pow day got blown away with the strong wind and the storm that drifted north taking the majority of the snowfall with it, there will be some epic drifted stashes though. As we type the wind is still pretty strong and it will have an effect on lift operation for sure, it feels like the areas closer to Kutchan may have some protection from this wind so I reckon all roads lead to Hanazono today! With strong wind avi risk rises so please have a good read of the report before you venture beyond the resorts.

A couple things to note:

First. Niseko United has seen an increased number of loose boards and ski in the resort this year. A board or ski hurtling down the mountain is a deadly weapon so hang onto your gear people. The best way to to this is to use a board leash for snowboarders and telemark skiers. These are on sale throughout the resorts.

Second. Rail Jam #2 is on tonight in the ginto forest just outside of town hit Rhythms website for a re-cap on #1or social for details on tonights Jam.

Check the live cam feed if you would like to see what is cooking right now in Hirafu on the snow front.

360niseko Snow Station Readings Disclaimer

The 360niseko now has 2 snow stations for the 2017-18 season in Higashiyama at 200m and 300m *The Hirafu Gondola is at 305m. Please be aware that this new reading is NOT in Hirafu village but a few kilometers down the road. There is always a deviation how and where the snow falls – the area is famous for micro climates and mini weather patterns. Some days there may be 10cm in Annupuri and 25cm in Hanazono and vice versa – some days 30cm of fresh snowfall comes down everywhere!! Altitude plays a big part as well so please don’t take the 360niseko snow readings as being definitive – the readings are what is outside our houses on the ground.
