*9.5cm of fresh snow has fallen in the last 24hrs in Hirafu Village. At 7:00 today the temperature was -3°C. After an amazing 3 days of snowfall the weather has mellowed. The wind has dropped and it looks like the upper mountain may open this morning. The temperature has increased as well so the snow pack may be unstable and it will be interesting to see what gates if any open this morning.
*If you venture out any of the gates please read the avalanche report and carry the appropriate safety gear – beacon, probe and shovel. There are lots of guiding companies in Niseko who can get people in and out of the backcountry safely. Please don’t under estimate the dangers of riding in the backcountry and be prepared for the worst case scenario.
