Niseko Snow Report, 22 January 2023

by | Jan 21, 2023 | 22/23, Snow Reports | 0 comments

*9cm or more has fallen since 07:45 yesterday in Niseko. At 7:20 today the temperature was-9°C. It is really quite difficult to say how much snowfall has come down due to the wind. Presently calm with the wind strength is not expected to increase until the afternoon. It should be a great morning! For the coming week it looks like Niseko and the whole of Japan will be locked in a very cold weather pattern with extremely cold air being pushed down from Siberia. With the top temperature forecast to only reach -11 on Tuesday and Wednesday …be prepared.

360niseko Snow Station Readings Disclaimer

The 360niseko’s snow station for the 2022-23 season is in Higashiyama at 200m *The Hirafu Gondola is at 305m. Please be aware that this new reading is NOT in Hirafu village but a few kilometers down the road. There is always a deviation how and where the snow falls – the area is famous for micro climates and mini weather patterns. Some days there may be 10cm in Annupuri and 25cm in Hanazono and vice versa – some days 30cm of fresh snowfall comes down everywhere!! Altitude plays a big part as well so please don’t take the 360niseko snow readings as being definitive – the readings are taken from what is outside our house on the ground.
