*4cm of fresh snow as fallen in the last 24hrs in Hirafu Village. At 7:00 today the temperature was -2°c.
The warm front has passed through the region and it is again snowing in the village. Yesterdays rain was quite substantial with roofs all over the village to shedding their snow causing chaos around the village. Roads turned to ice and the snow pack on the mountain dropped.
Today there is a moderate wind which is predicted to increase in strength throughout the day. Heavy snow has also been forecast and blizzard warnings are in force. Looks like we are in for a wild last day for 2012.
In Hirafu Village there will be countdown parties in all of the bars and the annual fireworks display at the base of Hirafu at midnight weather permitting.
Have a great night and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
