Niseko Snow Report, 4 March 2019

by | Mar 4, 2019 | 19/20, Snow Reports | 0 comments

*0cm has fallen in the last 24 hours in Niseko. At 7:00 today the temperature was -1°C. Just a dusting of snow overnight. The warm conditions are persisting but the weather has been spectacular with long sunny days. This week we have a glimmer of hope for fresh snowfall on Wednesday. The long range forecast also predicts some fresh stuff early next week. The good news is there has been no rain and the snowpack is ….AWESOME! Riding on the resorts is a lot of fun and the backcountry touring is sweet as well especially from mid morning when the snow softens.

*09:00 looks like we had some significant rain overnight. This is actually good news for spring riding as this will make the snow less grippy and faster. A great day to harvest some spring corn!!

360niseko Snow Station Readings Disclaimer

The 360niseko’s snow station for the 2017-18 season is in Higashiyama at 200m *The Hirafu Gondola is at 305m. Please be aware that this new reading is NOT in Hirafu village but a few kilometers down the road. There is always a deviation how and where the snow falls – the area is famous for micro climates and mini weather patterns. Some days there may be 10cm in Annupuri and 25cm in Hanazono and vice versa – some days 30cm of fresh snowfall comes down everywhere!! Altitude plays a big part as well so please don’t take the 360niseko snow readings as being definitive – the readings are what is outside our house on the ground.
