Calm after the storm?
*5.2cm of fresh snow has fallen since yesterday morning and at 6:30am today the temperature was -1°c.The storm has passed but persistent strong winds remain. Although we reporting 5.2 cm of fresh snow in Hirafu village there are some very deep wind drifts up to 30cm around my house, on the mountain there will be some very deep sections but also wind scoured icy sections so be careful today.
Useful information from other places
- Accumulative snow fall to date, 1,501cm
- Snow depth at the peak, 410cm
- Snow depth at the base, 170cm

What’s happening today
This morning we are quietly optimistic that the lifts will be running – time will tell.
The recent wild weather will have transformed the mountain and caution is advised. Deep wind drifts and cornice danger will be prevalent all over the mountain.
