*13cm of fresh snow has fallen in the last 24hrs in Hirafu Village. At 7:00 today the temperature was -3°C. We are in the grip of the first serious winter storm system for the 2015-16! Strong winds have been ripping through Hirafu Village for the last 12 hours. Our 13cm of accumulation is not representative of how much has actually fallen as our snow station is effected by the wind…..we’d say at least 20cm has fallen but hard to say for sure.
The wind is forecast to drop through the day so fingers crossed the lifts will be running. Hanazono ski ground is scheduled to open this morning and Grand Hirafu will also be opening up more ski runs and lifts. Could be an epic morning – we’ll just have to see how it plays out with the wind and lift operations.
