Niseko Snow Report, 8 March 2019

by | Mar 8, 2019 | 19/20, Snow Reports | 0 comments

*0cm has fallen in the last 24 hours in Niseko. At 7:00 today the temperature was -6°C. Another dusting of snow overnight. Yesterday and today has seen an influx of cold air from the north but sadly not the accompanying snow we are all accustomed to. Speaking to people who have lived here for 30 years or more and no one can ever remember weather like this in Niseko. Today the temperature will remain low but tomorrow it will sky rocket up to 10 degrees!! There is a glimmer of hope for fresh snowfall early next week. Today is a day for fast carving on the groomed runs or leisurely hikes in the BC looking for corn snow from mid morning…but of course there may be some fresh snow out there and some local guiding companies seem to still be finding the goods!

360niseko Snow Station Readings Disclaimer

The 360niseko’s snow station for the 2017-18 season is in Higashiyama at 200m *The Hirafu Gondola is at 305m. Please be aware that this new reading is NOT in Hirafu village but a few kilometers down the road. There is always a deviation how and where the snow falls – the area is famous for micro climates and mini weather patterns. Some days there may be 10cm in Annupuri and 25cm in Hanazono and vice versa – some days 30cm of fresh snowfall comes down everywhere!! Altitude plays a big part as well so please don’t take the 360niseko snow readings as being definitive – the readings are what is outside our house on the ground.
