Anyone who has visited Niseko in the last year would not have missed the large Shiki construction site dominated by the huge orange crane on the main road of Hirafu Village. Niseko Resort Design Construction is managing the project and asked me to join them on an inspection.
With perfect weather, ascending to the highest point on the end of the boom was a great chance to get some interesting shots from a unique angle of the village and surrounding mountains.
Hopes of climbing out along the boom ladder quickly faded as we inspected the view.
We climbed as high as we could on the main body of the crane and were treated to some spectacular views.

Making the most of the chance, I was able to set up my tripod and panoramic set up to shoot this panorama taking in the entire view – click and drag on the image to look around.
Thanks to RDC for the invite and construction company Iwata Chizaki for allowing me up the crane. The team patiently looked after me making sure I was locked in by safety harness when necessary and even carried some of my gear for me.
